Description:

Every purchase of the Blood Collection Sites and Precautions wall atlas from the Pulmolab now comes with CE questions for managers to implement into their in-house CE program.

This highly detailed 4-color laminated poster depicts acceptable venipuncture and skin puncture sites for blood specimen collection. Approximate locations of nerves, veins and the brachial artery as they pass through the antecubital area are identified and accompanied by detailed text that discusses the precautions all specimen collection personnel must know when drawing blood for clinical testing to prevent patient injury. A section on alternative venipuncture sites discusses mastectomy patients, foot/ankle veins and other alternatives. All text and illustrations reflect the current Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (formerly NCCLS) documents.

The 17x22-inch laminated poster---designed to be posted in classrooms, laboratories, medical offices, healthcare facilities, and other specimen collection environments---is the only one that shows nerves, veins and the brachial artery of the antecubital area.

Shipped with every purchase is a CE exercise with 15 questions drafted from the content of the poster for implementation into the facility’s in-house CE program. Managers simply submit copies of the exam to each staff member to complete, assuring that the information on the poster is read and comprehended by the specimen collection staff. Each exam is returned to the manager for grading and recording in each employee’s personnel file. An answer key is provided.
